japandrew's log!: June 2005

June is drawing to a close and July is getting ready to fling open his doors. Here in Japan we have entered the incredibly hot and wet rainy season which combines the worst of both worlds - appaling humidity and torrential rain, the worst combination since, well see the following product review and gasp in horror. This update is another mixed bag starting from my birthday back in May and going through to a few day trips with a miscellany of other things thrown in. I hope you are all well and I hope to speak to you all soon.

Back by demand (thanks for all of your letters pleading for its return).

During my previous images on Kamakura I mentioned a gigantic golden statue of a goddess that washed up on a beach casting beams of light that cured a village. Behold this amazing picture (scanned from a postcard I bought)!!! Actually it looks like it is about the size of a fireplace ornament in this picture, but you can take my word for it that it is actually about the size of a house!

The impressive stage at the Japanese National Theatre where I watched Kabuki - one of the Japanese styles of theatre. Sorry this picture is so dull but they did not allow any photography grr.

Aquarium #1 Anyone for tuna? I was very impressed with this Sea Park near Tokyo Disneyland.

Aquarium #2 Giant Japanese Spider Crabs Ahhrggh! I had been looking forward to seeing these enormous forward walking crabs about the size of a large dog, I was not disapointed although perhaps I was a little shocked when this one reared up on the glass infront of me!!

Hello everyone, it is already mid June! Time sure flys fast but I have finally posted the last of my Golden Week pictures. They're something of a mixed bag with a few straggling pictures thrown in but I hope you enjoy them.

The government offices I. This giant building was one of our last destinations. A fast elevator to the top allows for spectacular views of Tokyo and best of all it's free!
